GERALD WILLIAM MEYER

Gerald William Meyer, 90, of Williams Bay, formerly of Elkhorn, died March 22, 2014, at his home at Sherwood Lodge in Williams Bay. Jerry was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Whitewater to William and Ruth (Scharine) Meyer.

Jerry farmed all his life and lived on his farm in Johnstown Township for over 50 years. In 1993, he was married to Thelma Adams Sawyer and they made their home on his farm until they moved to Elkhorn in 2000.                Jerry was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elkhorn, a 45-year member of Associated Milk Producers Inc., and a Farm Bureau member.

He delivered Meals on Wheels for several years and also volunteered at Lutherdale to help with makings and the Quilt Fest.

Jerry was a very kind and gentle man. He enjoyed working with latch hook kits and made many beautiful wall hangings. Even when living in Elkhorn, he still had a green thumb including his roses, other flowers and shrubs.

He truly enjoyed his 90th birthday on Feb. 6, 2014, at his open house and enjoyed seeing so many dear friends.

Jerry also enjoyed remodeling his two tractors and remodeled his father’s 1940 John Deere tractor.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma of Williams Bay; a brother, William (Alice) Meyer; his nieces and a nephew; several cousins; and many friends.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; a brother, Donald; and his sister, Eileen.
