JOHN LEO BURCH SR.

John Leo Burch Sr., 83, of Delavan, died March 10, 2014, at Mercy Walworth Hospital and Medical Center.        He was born March 22, 1930, to Emmett and Pearl (Cummings) Burch.

He was united in marriage for 59 years to Pearl (Olson) Burch. Along with his wife, John was the owner and operator of Burch’s Family Restaurant in Delavan from 1969 until their retirement in 1994.       He was a member of Sugar Creek Lutheran Church, a former Delavan municipal and juvenile judge, and a member of Delavan American Legion Post 95. He was a veteran who served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pearl, of Delavan; three daughters, Karen (Duane) Schauer, of South Carolina, Diane (Rick) Jordan, of Delavan, and Carol (T.J.) Triplett, of Lake Geneva; two sons, Mike (Kathy) Burch, of Sheboygan, and John Jr. (Lisa) Burch, of Mississippi; nine grandchildren, Derek, Melissa, Nikki, Ryan, Patrick, Lizabeth, Blake, Tanner and Maddi; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Rita) Burch and David Burch; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents and two brothers, Major and Arthur.

Funeral services were March 13 at Sugar Creek Lutheran Church in Elkhorn with the Rev. Jane Rothman officiating.

Memorials may be made to Sugar Creek Lutheran Church. Monroe Funeral Home, in Delavan is assisting the family.
