Joanne Ann Schwindt, 78, died Jan. 20, 2014, after a brave struggle with Alzheimer’s disease for the past five years. She was born June 6, 1935
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Matthew John Schwindt Jr. Mother of Lisa Mihlbauer (Michael), Mona Melms (Tom), Dana Skillrud (John), Tony (Emma Patterson), Cara, Matthew, Trisha Kilpin (Rick) and James (Tesha).
Loving grandmother to 16 grandchildren – Sven (Chrissy), Ion (Sarah) and Dane (Antonia) Skillrud, Matthew (Cori Jordan), Monika (Joshua) Robinett and Emma (Cameron) Marston, Mara (Jason) Putt, Liza Melms, Max and Miles Kilpin, James, Jaysha, Jolea and Jayton Schwindt, Molly and Matthew Schwindt.
Great grandmother to Nessa, Cilla , Jack, Eloise and Alina Skillrud, Noah Robinett, Emory and Charlotte Mihlbauer.
Survivors include her sister, Ellen Budny; brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Martin Martinetti; special niece, Gail (Larry) Henderson, special neighbors, and quilting friends.
Joanne and Matt retired and moved to East Troy in 1989 after living for many years in Bay View.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the memory care unit at Lakeland Health Care Center for their great kindness, compassion and outstanding care during Joanne’s stay with them.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lakeland Health Care Center Memory Care Unit, 1922 Highway NN, Elkhorn 53121, or the Alzheimer’s Association are suggested.
