MARY G. ALDER

Mary Gene Alder, 92, of Delavan, died Dec. 11, 2013, at her home. She was born on April 20, 1921, in Fontana, to the late Eugene and Clara (Robinson) Sullivan.

She married George W. Alder on Sept. 16, 1947 in Sharon. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 2010.

She was a 1943 graduate of University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She taught at Elkhorn High School for several years and was a homemaker.

She was a founding member of Delavan Service League, St. Andrew’s School Board, and Family Motor Coach Association.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Lynn (Jim) Hodshire, Downers Grove, Ill., JoAnne (Tim) Tully, Delavan, Debra (Jeff Scherer), Delavan, and Julie Supernaw, Delavan; John, Delavan; grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Hodshire, Chris (Erin), Amy (Brian) Eriksson, Kathleen, and Kevin Tully, Molly (Matt) Polyock, Jack, Jenny, and Joey Scherer, Jeffery, Kelly, and Danny Supernaw, and Sam and Mike Alder; great-grandchildren, Sam, Claire, and William Polyock, and Emma Tully.

She was further preceded in death by her brothers, Clifford and Lester Sullivan, and sister, Helen Sullivan Pett.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 115 S. Seventh St., Delavan, with the Rev. Jim Schuerman officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew’s School.
