EDWARD J. DREXLER

Edward James Drexler, 75, of Whitewater, died Oct. 25, 2013, at The Glen in Whitewater. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Feb. 9, 1938, to the late Joseph William and Theresa Edna (Synnott) Drexler.

He graduated from Elder High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Chemistry from Xavier University, and his PhD from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Edward taught chemistry for 38 years at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

He married Kathryn Ann Miller on Aug. 31, 1963, in Detroit, Mich.

Edward received the W.P. Roseman Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1988. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Whitewater. Edward had a great sense of humor.

He enjoyed gardening, cooking, travel, and loved movies.

Surviving include his wife; children: Elizabeth, Whitewater, Diane (David Spies), Madison, David (Ann Edahl), Fresno, Calif., Gregory (Tracy), Madison, and

Timothy, Fitchburg; grandchildren, Maximillian and Olivia; brothers, Joseph (Marie) and Charles, both of Cincinnati, Ohio,

He was further preceded in death by a sister, Mary Drexler.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1225 W. Main St., Whitewater, with the Rev. Stephen Forrest celebrating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Whitewater.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, at the Nitardy Funeral Home, 550 N. Newcomb St., Whitewater, and from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Tuesday.
