WALLACE GORDON YADON

Wallace Gordon Yadon, 90, of Delavan, died June 21, 2013, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center, Elkhorn. He was born on Feb. 7, 1923 in Delavan, to the late Marshall and Stella (Cooper) Yadon.

He married Dorothy Mader on Sept. 9, 1948, in Wisconsin Rapids. She preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 2011.

He was the postmaster in Delavan for many years, a freelance writer for the Delavan Enterprise from 1950 to 2011, the unofficial historian for the City of Delavan and along with Rudy Lange, the founder and operator of the Delavan Arboretum.

He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Delavan. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II and a member of Delavan Legion Post 95.

Survivors include his daughter, Caryl (Paul) Eyre, Cleveland, Ohio; son, Douglass, Delavan; grandchildren, Luke, John and Mark, Jona (Jeff) Travis, Colin, Brendan and Kylie Eyre, and Christopher, Matthew (Cheryl), Benjamin and Thomas Ranum; seven great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Steven Green; and many nieces and nephews.

He was further preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela; son, Robert; four sisters and one brother.

Services will be noon on Tuesday, June 25, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 416 W. Geneva St., Delavan, with the Rev. Robert P. Rickman officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Memorials to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church School are suggested.

Monroe Funeral Home, Delavan, is assisting the family.
