Nancy J. Sigmund, 86 of W. Page Street, Elkhorn, died Thursday April 4, 2013, at Lakeland Health Care Center Elkhorn. She was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Oak Park, Ill., the daughter of the late Herbert Edwin and Dorothy (Gibson) Seltmann Reedy.
She graduated from Elkhorn High School with the Class of 1944. She was united in marriage to Charles F. Sigmund on Nov. 10, 1945. He died March 13, 1979.
She worked for many years as a clerk at the Geiser Drug Store in Elkhorn and for over five years she was the Welcome Wagon Lady for the City of Elkhorn.
She was active with the community of Elkhorn. She taught stain glass courses at Gateway Technical College. She was a former Den-mother for the Cub Scouts, a member and past-president of the Elkhorn Garden Club, life member and former officer of the Wisconsin Garden Club Federation, and served as convention chairman for the 49th annual convention that was held in Lake Geneva.
While she was president of the garden club she was instrumental in the moving of the Historic Band Shell from downtown Elkhorn to Sunset Park. During her tenure as president, the garden club started the process of recycling glass in the city of Elkhorn. Nancy is survived by her two sons, Charles (Marjorie) Sigmund II of Alamo, Texas, and Robert (Rebecca) Sigmund of Elkhorn; two grandchildren, Charles and Emma Sigmund; one sister, Patricia Paulson of Elkhorn; one brother-in-law, William (Esther) Sigmund of Elkhorn; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Nancy was further preceded in death by her sister Jean Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday April 13, 2013, at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin Street, Elkhorn, with the Rev. Joyce Rich officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Elkhorn. Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be made in Nancys name to the Elkhorn Garden Club.
