RUTH M. PALMER

Ruth M. Palmer, 92, Sharon, passed away March 6 at Golden Years Nursing Home in Walworth. She was born April 28, 1920 in Hebron, Ill., to the late Francis and Mary (Peterson) Maas. Ruth was united in marriage to Lyle Palmer April of 1941 in Richmond, Ill. He preceded her in death Nov. 20, 2007. Along with her husband, they owned and operated the family farm in Sharon Township raising beef cattle. She was a member of St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Fontana. She was also a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church Alter Society. She is survived by her daughter, Dona (Tom Spellman) of Lake Geneva; sons, Gary of Oregon and Jeff (Anne) of Scituate, Mass.; 11 grand/stepchildren and 13 great-grand/step grandchildren. She was further preceded in death by her brothers, Francis and George and sister, Marquerite. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. March 16 at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Fontana with the Rev. Donald Zerkel officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. March 15 at the Monroe Funeral Home in Delavan. Burial will be at St. Andrews Cemetery in Delavan. Memorials may be directed to the Delavan Food Pantry or Heifer International. Monroe Funeral Home in Delavan is assisting the family.
