Whitewater Arts Alliance announces tentative plans at annual meeting

The year 2017 marks the 10th year that the Whitewater Arts Alliance has had a home base at the Cultural Arts Center, on 402 W. Main St.

“Formerly the White Memorial Public Library, this prominent and historic building in its park setting on Main Street, is a landmark like no other in Whitewater,” a press release from the WAA stated.

A number of 10th anniversary events are planned, and a logo is needed for publicity. While not requiring any particular words or symbols, the committee will judge on how well the logo expresses the 10th anniversary and the iconic building. The winner will receive a $100 prize.

“The Cultural Arts Center has housed 2D and 3D art exhibits, theatrical performances, musical art, storytelling, book-signings and more in ten years,” Virginia Coburn, 10th Anniversary Committee member, said. “The Whitewater Arts Alliance has had a beautiful home from which to feature our multi-talented community, and we are excited about the opportunity to have local artists create a logo to depict its importance in our community.”

Anyone is eligible to enter the contest, whether they are professional or amateur artists. Logos should be submitted as an Adobe Illustrated file. The committee will also consider .eps or .jpg. Artists should be aware that the logo will be scaled from small to large for a variety of items.

Logos should be submitted electronically via email by Dec. 1, 2016 to virginiacoburn@coburn.com. In the body of the email, artists should include their name, address and phone number. No entry fee is required.
