Be well

Whitewater Wellfest event Sunday

Do you ever feel like you always put your health second? Have you been meaning to buy a back massager to soothe your painful back for a while but just haven’t gotten round to it? Are you wanting to learn about different ways you can prioritize your health?

People don’t realize how much better they can feel about both their mental and physical health if they look into improving the way they live their day-to-day lives. From not getting enough sleep to putting your job first, there are tonnes of reasons you may have fallen behind but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to change.

Local governments are hoping to increase awareness about the different resources within the community that can help them make positive and affordable change. The 4th annual Wellfest event will take place Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m. at Whitewater High School, 534 S. Elizabeth St.

Wellfest is a free event offering members of the community the opportunity to participate in, and learn about healthy activities for body and mind. Features at the event will include: resource fair, indoor obstacle course, information sessions, health screenings, games, yoga, Zumba, soccer boot camp, cheer and dance clinic, Tai Chi, gardening and cooking demos, financial tips and healthy snacks.

Free childcare will be available from 2 to 4 p.m. at the event. Wellfest sponsors include: W3 Working for Whitewater’s Wellness, UW-Whitewater, the City of Whitewater, the Whitewater Unified School District and Fort HealthCare.
