Open casting call for kids Monday

‘Aladdin’ to take stage at UW-Whitewater’s Young Auditorium Feb. 7

Casting for the Missoula Children’s Theatre’s production of Aladdin will be held on Monday, Feb. 2 beginning with registration at 3 p.m., casting from 4 to 6 p.m. and the first rehearsal from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Young Auditorium, 930 W. Main St. in Whitewater on campus at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Children in Kindergarten through 12th grade are welcome to audition, with the minimum age being 5 and maximum 18. Approximately 50-60 local children will be cast to appear in the show. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. This is a group audition – no advanced preparation is necessary. No previous acting experience required.

Those that wish to audition must arrive by 4 p.m. Feb. 2 and stay for the entire two-hour casting session. The first two-hour rehearsal begins approximately 15-30 minutes after the audition. To audition, a registration form must be completed and brought to the audition. Registration forms are available at www.uww.edu/youngaudit orium/season/aladdin-mct.

MCT touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. Actors/directors will conduct rehearsals throughout next week. Rehearsals will be held Monday, Feb. 2, following the audition and casting session (6:30–8:30 p.m.) and Tuesday through Friday, Feb. 3-6 from 4 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Young Auditorium.

Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week, and if selected, be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the audition. Cast members scheduled for the full 4-1/2 hours of rehearsal will be asked to bring a snack to eat during the break between rehearsal sessions.

The performance of Aladdin, which is open to the public, will be held at Young Auditorium Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. The children in the cast will be called for dress rehearsal before the performance that day. All cast members must be available for the dress rehearsal and scheduled performance.
