The Whitewater Fire Department was called to 267 S. Cottage St. for a structure fire just before 9 a.m. this morning for what eventually turned into a seven-alarm fire, according to comments posted on the Walworth County Fire/EMS Scanner Facebook page. No one was home at the time of the fire, according to neighbors. Mutual aid was requested from numerous area departments including: Milton, Fort Atkinson, Palmyra, Janesville, Lauderdale LaGrange, Jefferson, Elkhorn, Helenville, Troy Center, Darien, Delavan, Rome, Edgerton and the Racine Fire Belles.
