Is your chili worthy?

Contestants sought for Feb. 14 Freeze Fest

The requirements are simple: cook up a batch of chili for Whitewater’s Freeze Fest Chili Cook-off event in February. In addition to helping raise money for Special Olympics and Seniors in the Park, prizes will be awarded in several categories.

An individual, a group of people, a church, a business or any other group or organization can enter chili for the cook-off. Cash prizes will be awarded in the following categories: First Place, Runner-up, Peoples’ Choice and Best Decorated Table at the event.

The event will be held at Cravath Lakefront Park in Whitewater on Saturday, Feb. 14. The deadline to register as a contestant is Friday, Feb. 8. Registration forms are available online at www.wwparks.org, by calling (262) 473-0535 or by emailing Deb Weberpal at dweberpal@whitewater-wi.gov.

“Share your talents, good food and help raise money for Special Olympics and Seniors in the Park,” Weberpal stated in a press release about the event.

To get what may be the best deal in town that day, purchase a Polar Plunge coffee/chili mug for $10 and bring it to the Freeze Fest Chili Cook-off for free samples of chili. Mugs are on sale now at the Starin Park Community Building, the Whitewater Municipal Building and the Discover Whitewater office.
