A 51-year-old woman was injured Oct. 7 when she was struck by a car while crossing Graydon Avenue near East Troy High School.

According to the police report, Nelida Tubino, of East Troy, was crossing Graydon Avenue near or at Lilly Street at about 6:50 p.m. on Oct. 7 when she was hit by a black Chevrolet Malibu driven by 74-year-old Joseph S. Domitrz, of Whitewater.

Domitrz allegedly told police he was on his way to his granddaughter’s volleyball game at East Troy High School when he didn’t see the woman crossing the road and struck her with his car, according to the report. Domitrz also told police he “may not have been paying attention to the road because he was looking around for the High School” and that the woman was wearing dark clothing.

Tubino was transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for treatment of “moderate to severe trauma and lacerations to the right side of her head,” the report stated.

Police Chief Alan Boyes said Oct. 8 that she had been “treated and released” and was doing well.

Police performed a preliminary breath test on Domitrz and it registered .00 percent. Domitrz was also transported to Mercy Hospital for a blood draw for chemical analysis because the incident involved injury, according to the report. The results of the blood test were not available at press time.

Domitrz was cited for inattentive driving and the matter remains open pending the results of the blood test.
