Growing leaps and bounds: Studio 84 expanding

Bethesda Lutheran Communities, a national provider of support and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has announced a new partnership with Studio 84, an art studio specializing in providing artistic opportunities for people with disabilities.

Bethesda and Studio 84 will launch the partnership with an open house on Monday that will be followed by two, four-week interactive art sessions providing art experiences for people with disabilities in mediums including painting, drawing and mixed media.

“This partnership illustrates Bethesda’s commitment to providing amazing opportunities for the people we support in Watertown, and across the country,” Gretchen Block, regional director of Bethesda’s Wisconsin operations said. “Studio 84 is a leader in providing people who have disabilities with interactive art experiences that can increase their focus, independence, and empower them as individuals.”

Each session costs $50 per person and includes four, two-hour periods of hands-on art activity with Studio 84’s professional staff. All materials and supplies are included.

The first session will meet every Monday from Oct. 27 through Nov. 17, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Bethesda’s Watertown Employment and Community Life Center, 761 Milford St. in Watertown. The second session will also meet on Mondays during the same time from Nov. 24 until Dec. 15.

“Studio 84 is excited to work with Bethesda to expand our offerings to more people around southeastern Wisconsin,” Deborah Blackwell, Studio 84’s director and founder said.

Those interested are encouraged to attend the open house on Monday, Oct. 20 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. The evening will include a meet-and-greet with Bethesda and Studio 84 staff, an intro to the new program, and on-site registration for both four-week sessions. Parents, guardians, and support staff are encouraged to attend.
