Foodies, contestants sought for cook-off

The Friends of Powers Memorial Library in Palmyra is gearing up to host its annual Chili Cook-off event. In preparation, the group is seeking foodies as well as contestants.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Lions Pavilion on the shore of Lower Spring Lake near the beach. The cost to take part in the tasting portion of the contest is $5 a person, free for kids younger than 3 with the purchase of a full-price ticket.

In conjunction with the event there will be a raffle for various prizes including: a one-hour airplane ride in the area, an E-tablet, a “Taste of Palmyra” basket and more. The raffle drawing will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 20.

Those interested in entering a favorite – or secret – chili recipe in the contest are asked to call or send a text message to Reyna at (262) 903-3782 or Melanie at (262) 893-8093.

A PDF of the entry form can be found at www.palmyra.lib.wi.us. A panel of local judges will decide the winners.
