Amy Edmonds, Athletic Director for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, was the featured speaker for the Whitewater Rotary Club lunch on June 26.

Edmonds, a UW-W alumna, summed up the recently concluded 2013-14 academic year for the university’s 20 athletic programs and 700 student athletes as simply “pretty amazing.”

She highlighted the significant recognition of the UW-W athletic program in being awarded the second place Directors’ Cup by the National Association of Collegiate Directors, noting that UWW is one of 450 NCAA Division III institutions across the United States.

Edmonds also recognized the current stability of the athletic programs staff after a period of transition.

The club was also updated on athletic facilities by Edmonds, who discussed described a number of current projects, including breaking ground in August for a softball building and the expansion of the baseball complex and Perkins Stadium.

Looking to the future, Edmonds included among possible targets for capital campaigns indoor tennis, multi-surface, and swimming complexes and a basketball arena.
