Laugh out loud at ‘Summer Stories’

John McGivern’s show slated April 25 at Young Auditorium

Young Auditorium welcomes new and returning audiences to see Emmy award-winner, John McGivern, perform his hilarious show, “Summer Stories,” on Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. The Young Auditorium is located at 930 W. Main St. in Whitewater and ticket prices are less than $30.

In “Summer Stories,” McGivern reminisces about the best times of summer as he takes audiences through Memorial Day, school’s end, the 4th of July, summer camp, family vacation, the dog days of August, and the dreaded arrival of Labor Day when it all comes to an inevitable end with the return to school. His brilliant talent in storytelling and comedic personality bring his stories to life and the audience back to their own cherished childhood memories.

McGivern is the third born of six children in his working-class Irish Catholic family in the Midwest and enjoys sharing his personal stories. He has most famously gained recognition from his Emmy-award winning work on PBS with “Around the Corner with John McGivern.”

He is also well-known for his one-man shows sharing personal, touching stories and entertaining with his witty personality. These shows have included, “The Early Stories of John McGivern,” “A Midsummer Night McGivern,” “The Wonder Bread Years,” “John McGivern’s Winter Tales,” and “John McGivern’s Home for the Holidays.”
