It all adds up for math team

Whitewater 5th-6th graders earn first place at home meet

Congratulations are in order for the 5th and 6th graders that competed in the TAG Network Math Meet held April 1 at Whitewater Middle School. Local students did well competing against the four other school districts in attendance at the meet and earned the first place trophies convincingly.

The final results from the meet were as follows: Whitewater, 531 points; East Troy, 501 points; Edgerton, 427 points; Palmyra-Eagle, 389 points, and; Clinton, 391 points.

The 6th grade first place individual trophy went to Shawn Chan, with the second place medal being awarded to Colin Chenoweth, both of Whitewater.

The 5th grade first place individual trophy went to Reid Gunnink of Whitewater while Kyle Nelson of East Troy took home second.

Additionally, the Whitewater Math Team recorded a perfect score of 100 in the team portion of the event. The students will now advance to the MEGA Math Meet that will be held on May 22 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.
