Blind Dates and Cool Cats

Do you like surprises? Don’t know what to read? Try a Blind Date with a Book at the Irvin L. Young Memorial Library.

Children and adults may check out one of the wrapped books on display.  When they get home they may unwrap and read the surprise book.  Perhaps it will be an old favorite or maybe it will introduce them to a new genre.

After the book is tried, please return it to the library and fill out a Blind Date Form. Let staff know if you have found a new true love or not!

Also in February children are invited to participate in Pete the Cat Reading Program. Preschool and Kindergarten children need to read ten books or have someone read 10 books to them. Elementary and Young Adults need to read at least three books.

All children who complete a reading record by the end of February will receive a Rockin’ Reader Certificate and a pair of ‘cool’ shoelaces. Children will also sign a paper tennis shoe to be displayed in a walk around the library. Don’t miss out on this cool cat activity.
