A local research and manufacturing company is the latest to make its foray into the burgeoning Whitewater University Innovation Center facility.

With promises of working with the city and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, leaders behind iButtonLink have signed a five-year lease and recently began occupying five suites within the Innovation Center.

With a range of clients – from small start-ups to fortune-500 companies, iButtonLink is described as a network sensor solution business that serves clients in three continents. The company touts its proprietary use of sensors that can be customized to meet various clients’ needs.

Some of the sensors created within iButtonLink are used to regulate temperature and humidity.

The company previously occupied space in the Old Stone School facility in East Troy. But Patrick Johnson, internet marketing specialist, said the company aspired to relocate to Whitewater in an effort forge new working relationships.

“We’re very excited to be a part of Whitewater,” Johnson said. “The university is an amazing tool to have on our side. We’re excited about the possibilities.”

UW-Whitewater’s leaders, including Chancellor Richard Telfer agree iButtonLink will bring value to the Whitewater area.

“iButtonLink will bring new energy and technological expertise to the community,” Telfer said in a statement. “I am particularly excited about the company’s plans to engage UW-Whitewater students, faculty and staff members in its business operations.”

iButtonLink was established in 2006.
