Fall colors fly-in breakfast Sunday

Local EAA chapter fundraiser supports youth

Palmyra chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association will host its annual Fall Colors Fly-In Pancake Breakfast at the Palmyra Municipal Airport 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Oct. 6.

In addition to the finest pancakes in southeastern Wisconsin, according to local members, menu items include scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee, juice, and milk. This all-you-can-eat breakfast is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

This has become a popular event with airplanes flying in from around southeastern Wisconsin. In past years a variety of airplanes have attended including WWII Warbirds, homebuilt, ultralight and modern airplanes. There is no charge to come and watch the planes and parking is free.

EAA Chapter 1177 is a not-for-profit organization that works with youth to foster aviation education and safety through programs such as EAA Young Eagles airplane ride for children ages 8 thru 17. To date, the chapter as given nearly 1,000 free airplane rides and also awards scholarships to young adults for aviation themed career training.

Chapter membership is open to anyone with an interest in aviation and one does not need to be a pilot to join the EAA, or its local chapter. Meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month at the airport clubhouse starting at noon and are open to all.

The airport is located on the northwest edge of Palmyra on Hwy 106. Bring the whole family and make it a fun-filled morning of watching airplanes and enjoying a delicious breakfast. For more information send an email to: eaa1177@gmail.com.
