The first antique and garden market, held in mid-June, was so successful organizers Stephanie Atwell and Amy Hurwitz – who own Forget-Me-Not Flower Market – are planning a second one for Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

“The vendors that were here and new vendors have been calling, saying they want to be part of the next one. A lot of people have also stopped in and asked if we’re going to have another one so the interest is good,” Atwell said.

Vendors that took part in the previous event and are expected to return include Apron Strings and Mr. Rick’s barnwood items. Atwell said Angelus, which is located next door to Forget-Me-Not, also joined the spring event and may do so again in the fall.

“Because it’ll be in the fall, it’ll feature vintage, antique and garden items as well as fall items. We’ll also have a jewelry artisan here that Saturday that will have items for sale,” she said.

Atwell said part of the goal for the market event is to promote local artisans and their work in the community. They also expect to feature live music again at the market.

Atwell and Hurwitz celebrated their one-year anniversary at Forget-Me-Not after working together at Walworth Sentry Floral Department for years.

“A lot of people have come together to help us succeed. We’re a full-service market, buy flowers locally grown in the U.S. and specialize in locally-grown arrangements,” Atwell said.

The shop uses Leiders Greenhouse out of Hebron, Ill. as one local grower they purchase poinsettias from, and hanging baskets. The shop also features the work of local artisans including jewelry, pottery, artwork, candy and candles.

One local artist has been leaving her mark on the shop a few times a year, literally.

“Billie Lamb has been painting our front window at the shop and has changed it for the seasons. She’s done it for free and it’s really something people need to stop by and see. It’s amazing,” Atwell said.

Forget-Me-Not is a full service flower shop, offering custom designs for weddings, funerals, parties and everyday occasions.
