Chamber names local students as interns

Students are from Big Foot, Williams Bay high schools

The Geneva Lake West Chamber of Commerce earlier this week announced four interns for 2017, two each from Big Foot and Williams Bay high schools.

The interns are Sonja Ericson and Ryan Davenport from Big Foot High School, and Victoria Pollak and Carson Luberda from Williams Bay High School.

“Building future community leaders is a fundamental role for any business organization. Understanding the citizenship responsibilities that a strong democracy requires is an important part of leadership,” a press release about the interns states.

“With that goal in mind, GLWCC has established an internship program to support and encourage high school sophomores and/or juniors to spend a summer auditing board and committee meetings of our GLWCC, local municipal, county, and school governments,” the release states.

“By attending a wide variety of these decision making bodies, candidates will garner an overall understanding of the process of governing as well as the hard work and responsibilities of our locally elected leaders and businesses,” it further states.
