Aurora to host 4th Annual Lombardi Walk to Tackle Cancer June 17

Aurora Health Care Foundation and Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation will co-present the 4th annual Lombardi Walk to Tackle Cancer on Saturday, June 17 at Edgewater Park in Williams Bay.

Last year, more than 250 people joined the team and raised over $16,000 at the event. One hundred percent of the money raised will support the Aurora Health Center-Southern Lakes Aurora Cancer Care Vince Lombardi Cancer Care Clinic in Burlington.

“Cancer has affected everyone in some way – our friends, neighbors, and loved ones. It’s personal. That’s why we are so excited to partner with the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation and help enhance the programs that will be offered at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center right in our community,” Jolene Halvorsen, fundraising officer with Aurora Health Care Foundation, said.

This year, Aurora Health Care and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation are drafting an even greater team to Tackle Cancer throughout eastern Wisconsin by expanding the walks to now include 10 locations across eastern Wisconsin this summer, including the July 22 walk/run at Festa Italiana in Milwaukee.

All Lombardi Walks support local Aurora Cancer Care programs, services and cancer research in the communities in which they were raised. Funds raised will also receive a 50 percent match by the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation.

In addition to the walk, participants at each location can get information on cancer prevention and treatment and there will be fun activities to make these true family-friendly events. For more information, please visit LombardiWalk.org or call (262) 767-8290.
