Fish fry events to support causes

St. Benedict Parish, Fontana, will host fish fry events on the six Fridays of Lent with each benefitting local charitable organizations.

The March 3 fish fry will benefit Open Arms Free Clinic; March 10 – Cub Scouts; March 17 – St. Benedict Human Concerns Commission and the St. Vincent de Paul Society; March 24 – Vacation Bible School and St. Benedict Youth Faith Formation; March 31 – Fontana Rescue Squad, and; April 7 – St. Francis de Sales School and the St. Benedict Knights of Columbus.

The meals include: both baked and fried fish, hush puppies, potato pancakes, French fries, coleslaw, applesauce, dinner rolls, coffee and milk as well as a choice of a dessert provided by the “skilled bakers” of the parish. Soft drinks will be sold for a nominal price.

Attendees will have the opportunity to donate to a goodwill offering basket dedicated to the charitable organization(s) of the week, and also be able to participate in 50/50 raffles throughout the evening.

Prices are $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 5 to 12; free for children 4 and younger. A family price of $30 is offered for parents and their immediate minor children.

The fish fry dinners will be held 4:30 to 7 p.m. through April 7.
