A combined 13 from baseball, softball named to all conference teams

The Big Foot baseball and softball teams combined to land 13 players on recently released All-Rock Valley Conference South Division teams.

Big Foot had seven softball players selected and six from the baseball squad.

Leading the Chiefs’ in softball were a trio of first-team selections. Named were sophomore pitcher Riley Davis, senior infielder Morgan Stalker and sophomore utility player Yesenia Gonzalez.

Voted to the second team were sophomore infielder Courtney Schoenbeck and junior outfielder Olivia Briggs. Sophomore Lauren Paulsen and junior Abby Snudden both were honorable mention selections.

The Chiefs were 8-12 this spring, including a 7-8 mark in the RVC. Big Foot’s season ended in a 5-4 loss to East Troy in a WIAA Division 2 regional opener.

Beloit Turner, which won the South Division title at 14-1, led the honors with four first-team picks, including Player of the Year Kailyn Packard.

On the baseball diamond, senior infielder Mark Schauf was named as Big Foot’s only representative on the first team.

Senior catcher Zak Greco, senior outfielder Brendan Kelley and sophomore infielder Austin West were voted to the second team, while Conor McCarthy and Heath Dillenbeck were named honorable mention.

The Chiefs finished 9-12 this spring and were 7-9 in the RVC. Big Foot lost 8-4 to Delavan-Darien in its regional opener.

Turner won the South Division title at 16-0 and dominated the postseason selections with six on the first team.

The Trojans also swept the awards, as Nate Loomis and Ethan Burns were co-Players of the Year and Jeff Clowes was Coach of the Year.
