Man allegedly stole $35,000 worth of fuel

A status conference is scheduled for April 16 for a Kenosha man charged with stealing more than $35,000 worth of fuel from his Lake Geneva employer.

Frank J. Perrone, 37, was charged Jan. 23 in Walworth County Circuit Court with theft of movable property valued at $10,000 to $100,000.

According to the criminal complaint, Perrone stole 14,775 gallons of diesel fuel, valued at $36,279, from his employer, a fuel distributor in Lake Geneva.

The owner of the company said he began to suspect the theft when load tickets were missing from Perrone’s deliveries, according to the complaint. The owner obtained video of Perrone coming into the main building of the business on days that he was not scheduled to work and operating a main switch that turns on the field pumps, according to the complaint. A GPS unit on Perrone’s truck showed Perrone was taking fuel to locations in Spring Grove and Fox Lake, Ill., where the fuel was being sold to unknown parties, the complaint states.

The owner followed Perrone to the Spring Grove location on one occasion and saw Perrone fuel up several trucks, and then, on dash cam audio, Perrone could be heard making arrangements to meet up and get paid for the fuel.
