Bridge maintenance over Highway 12 results in overnight closures

The westbound lanes of Highway 12 will be closed overnight as the Wisconsin Department of Transportation maintains bridges.

Over the next few weeks, bridges over westbound Highway 12 between Genoa City and Elkhorn will undergo maintenance including heat straightening of steel girders underneath the County B, Sheridan Springs Road and Springfield Road structures.

A section of the bridge deck and a damaged segment of underlying steel girder will be replaced on the Sheridan Springs Road structure. Travel lanes along eastbound Highway 12 will remain open while the westbound lanes will close from about 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Closures are as follows:

  • County B over westbound Highway 12 – overnight from Monday through Thursday;
  • Sheridan Springs Road over westbound Highway 12 – Monday through Friday this week and again Monday through Friday next week.

Several nightly closures might be required from mid-October through early November for certain construction operations. Detour routes for the work will be coordinated with other nearby construction activity.

  • Springfield Road over westbound Highway 12 – Wednesday through Saturday.

The specialized work is dependent on weather and is subject to change. For more information about the closures, visit 511wi.gov.
