Lake Geneva Police pursuing a 19-year-old man ended their pursuit at the state line Thursday afternoon, according to communications heard over the police scanner.

According to the scanner, the man’s girlfriend told police he was suicidal, had stated his intended method was suicide by police and had knives and swords in the vehicle.

The pursuit led police out of Lake Geneva on Highway 50 with the man traveling at speeds close to 100 mph, according to scanner communications, and the man then took off on Highway 12 eastbound towards the Wisconsin-Illinois border.

Police were advised to not engage the man in a high-speed pursuit for the safety of both officers and civilians.
