The United Way of Walworth County is gearing up for its 9th Annual Run United, 5K Run/Walk and 1-mile Fun Run for kids, set for Saturday, June 16 at Babe Mann Park in Elkhorn.

Mariann Hunter, executive director, said the event has grown and teaming up with the Elkhorn Area Chamber of Commerce’s event has worked well.

“It kicks off Elkhorn’s Community Days and we say, ‘Come for the run, stay for the fun’ as way to encourage people to do both. The course is nice and flat, which people appreciate,” she said.

The 1-mile Fun Run, open to kids 14 and younger, is an especially fun event, Hunter said, because of the LAS Aquaskiers being on hand for Community Days.

“They drive their boat and the kids chase it around the lake so it’s really fun,” she said.
