Deputies administer narcotic overdose drug

Deputies revived a man suffering from an opiate overdose in the Town of LaGrange on March 3.

Three doses of naloxone, commonly known by its brand name, Narcan, were administered to a 26-year-old man at a Bluff Road residence, according to a press release from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Department about the incident.

Police were called to the home for a report of an unresponsive man at 1:53 a.m. March 3. Emergency medical dispatch initiated CPR protocol with the person who called 911 while deputies were en route to the scene, according to the release.

Dputies reportedly arrived five minutes later and knew the victim to be an abuser of opiate medications. His breathing was very shallow, and he was nonresponsive to pain or light stimulation, the release further stated.

The deputies delivered a dose of naloxone to the victim, and administered a second dose a short time later. The man began to show signs of improvement upon delivery of the second dose.

When the LaGrange Rescue Squad and Paratech Ambulance arrived, a third dose of naloxone was delivered, and the man was alert and conscious prior to Paratech transporting him to an area hospital where he received further medical care and was released later that morning, according to the department.

All Walworth County sheriff’s marked patrol squads are equipped with and deputies trained in the use of naloxone.

  1. Thanks to our first responders for saving so many of our children from heroin overdoses – but as you can see from this story, minutes away from death they are brought back to life, go to the hospital and check themselves out to start looking for their next drug deal. There MUST be consequences from the legal system for the act of a drug over dose. There should be a mandatory immediate jail time for it.
Let them sit in jail for 30 days – suffer the act of drug withdrawals, and maybe we can get through to them to change their lives !!!
My 28 year old son overdosed 3 times within a month and the third time was FATAL!!!!!!!! The worst thing a parent can go through !!!!!!!
Lets try something – because the way its done today – a slap on the hand for an overdose , is JUST NOT WORKING !!!!!!!!!
