Woman in prison for selling heroin near school

An Elkhorn woman is incarcerated at Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Fond du Lac until 2020 for selling heroin near Delavan-Darien High School in 2015.

Ali A. Ortiz, 28, pleaded guilty Jan. 28, 2016, to manufacturing or delivering heroin and felony bail jumping. Two additional charges of selling heroin, felony bail jumping and misdemeanor bail jumping against her were dismissed.

Ortiz was sentenced March 17 to four years in prison and three years extended supervision on the heroin charge and two years in prison and two years extended supervision on the bail jumping charge to run concurrently.

According to the criminal complaint, police conducted controlled buys of heroin from Ortiz at a Turtle Creek Drive apartment within 1,000 feet of D-DHS in October 2015.

Ortiz allegedly sold .39 grams of heroin Oct. 16, 2015; .27 grams on Oct. 22, 2015; and .48 grams on Oct. 26, 2015.
