An Elkhorn man was charged Feb. 1 in Walworth County Circuit Court with selling marijuana and prescription drugs and intending to sell cocaine.

Eric L. Richardson, 33, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, delivering a prescription drug, two counts of manufacturing or delivering marijuana and obstructing an officer, all as a repeater.

According to the criminal complaint, police conducted controlled buys of drugs from Richardson at his girlfriend’s sister’s East Jefferson Street apartment in Elkhorn on Dec. 2, Dec. 21 and Dec. 23. On the first occasion, an informant bought 10.67 grams of marijuana from Richardson; on the second, three 300 mg pills of Gabapentin; and, on the third, 2.63 grams of marijuana.

On Jan. 24, officers followed Richardson and an informant to Milwaukee to buy cocaine and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle they were in when it passed back in to Walworth County, according to the complaint. During the traffic stop, Richardson gave police a fake name and said the .11 grams of cocaine they found near his feet was for his personal use.

Several hours later, two more bags of crack cocaine that weighed .18 grams and .09 grams were found in the vehicle, according to the complaint.
