Oktoberfest Run set for Oct. 15

People’s Bank of Elkhorn is sponsoring the fourth annual Elkhorn Oktoberfest 5K Run and 2-mile Walk.

The run and walk will be held at 9 a.m. on Oct. 15 at the Walworth County Fairgrounds. On-site registration will be held from 7 to 8 a.m.

As in past years, this year’s run will benefit the Lakeland Animal Shelter, Kettle Moraine Land Trust and the Elkhorn Fund.

In the 2-mile walk portion of the annual run, dogs and pets are invited to participate. Those who do bring pets are asked to ensure they are well-behaved and accustomed to these types of events as there will be a lot of activity including other animals, children, loud noises and more which might excite a pet.

All pets are required to be on a leash and kept in control and away from other participants at all time.

The schedule of events for the annual run is as follows:

  • 7 a.m., gates open;
  • 8 a.m., “day of” registration closes;
  • 8:45 a.m., packet pickup closes;
  • 9 a.m., 5K start time;
  • 9:05 a.m., 2-mile walk start time;
  • 10 a.m., awards ceremony;
  • 10:20 a.m., best-dressed dog contest; and
  • 10:30 a.m., raffle.

The cost to register for the annual run and walk is $35 up until 8 a.m. of the race day. Registration can be completed online by visiting peoplesbankwi.com and clicking on the Oktoberfest run photo towards the bottom of the page. Paper registration forms can also be downloaded from that page.
