The City of Elkhorn Common Council voted in favor of a 2040 Comprehensive Plan Monday with a couple of changes that more accurately reflect what residents of the city would like to see.

While the plan originally came before the Common Council in May, it faced opposition from multiple city residents and the council ultimately decided to send it back to the Plan Commission at that time for further review.

Previously, the plan called for the Bielinski property off of North Wisconsin Street, between Mercy Healthcare and Walgreens, to be designated as mixed use and the former Lakeland School site to be designated as medium density.

The council voted 6-0 in favor of keeping the Bielinski property as commercial use only and changing the designation of the Lakeland School site to low density to more accurately reflect the neighborhood around it.
