The City of Elkhorn Common Council voted in favor of park improvement plans for Tasch and Sunset parks Feb. 15 that include a total of four grass tee-ball fields between the two at a cost not to exceed $150,000.

The council first voted in favor of rejecting previous bids for the project, allowing them to vote for the updated improvements to the two parks. Embedded in the motion, the council also voted in favor of altering the design slightly, spinning them so both backstops are away from North Lincoln street, if feasible.

“It’s just to get those little kids away from busy Lincoln Street,” Alderman Hoss Rehberg said. “We just have to make sure there’s no conflict with the basketball courts.”

Other improvements included $3,000 for new basketball poles and backboards, portable soccer goals and new playground equipment.

The motion by Alderman Greg Huss, seconded by Rehberg, was passed unanimously.
