Komfort Heating and Cooling continues giving tradition in the area

With temperature’s starting to tumble, Elkhorn’s Komfort Heating and Cooling has once again stepped up and joined forces with Lennox to provide a needy area family with the warmth and comfort to help them pull through the winter. Heating in the winter is an essential part of a home, however, not all homes are able to have that provided to them due to money issues, broken systems, frozen pipes, etc. so help like this is incredibly important for these families. Some homes still use heating oil for warmth in winter which can be a bit pricey too especially if they are watching their money, this is where websites such as PayLessForOil.com as well as others that are similar in specific locations, can help homeowners find the best price for their oil so they don’t go without.

For the Derek and Erin Fleck of Delavan and their three children however, Komfort Heating and Cooling went way above and beyond with their service this year, providing and installing a new furnace for the family free of charge through Lennox’s Heat U.P. Wisconsin program.

Heat U.P. Wisconsin is a 4-year-old program through which Lennox dealers in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan take nominations for people who “need a helping hand” and installs up to 100 new furnaces for people who are selected. President of Komfort Heating and Cooling Jay Myers has participated in the program for the past three years.

“We are local dealers and being local means you’re committed to supporting your community and its people,” Myers said in a press release last week. “I think this is our staff’s favorite community project.”

Manager Robin Macara said the program holds a high level of importance for staff at Komfort Heating and Cooling because they’re able to provide area families with the warmth it needs to make it through the winter.

Macara said as a part of the program, Komfort Heating and Cooling advertises, asking the community to nominate an area family who might be in need of a helping hand. From there, she said all nominations are sent over to Lennox, who then chooses three and sends them back to Komfort Heating and Cooling for a final decision.

“We look at that and choose one,” she said.

With young children, including a 12-week-old baby, Macara said the Fleck family seemed like the perfect fit for this year’s family.

Komfort Heating and Cooling employees and volunteers worked through the morning of Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Fleck’s home in Delavan to install the new furnace, even garnering the help of the little ones to help with the small jobs.

According to Macara, the business has been dedicated to providing help to all living creatures in the community in the past. Last year, the business provided a furnace for three young special needs men from Darien who prior to Komfort Heating and Cooling’s help were manually lighting the furnace each morning with a lighter.

In addition, Macara said Komfort Heating and Cooling has been a strong supporter of the Lakeland Animal Shelter over the years, either sending money or just dropping off supplies and for their 25th anniversary the business raised $10,000 for the Water Safety Patrol in Lake Geneva through a boat cruise and silent auction, among other things.

According to Macara, the business was founded by the current owner’s father and oldest brother out of Lake Geneva garage in 1976. The family owned and operated business has been committed ever since to providing residents in the Southern Lakes area the ultimate in comfort and service, standing by their mission statement to always exceed the customer’s expectation and provide “100 percent satisfaction on time, every time.”

According to Macara, the business provides all of the necessary HVAC services, similar to this Westminster air conditioning company. As well as providing products for installation and service, they offer filters, UV lights, purifiers, thermostats, and more.

Regular hours are between 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m., however, Macara assured the company always has a service technician on call, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Preparing for winter

With winter creeping up, Macara offered a handful of tips up to homeowners to help keep heating and ventilation running smoothly and safely through the cold months ahead.

Foremost, it can be important to maintain and have equipment cleaned and inspected by companies that can provide repair services for heating in souther California (if that is where you live), to avoid breakdowns in the middle of winter.

During snowstorms, Macara said, it’s important to make sure the PVC vent outside doesn’t get covered in snow, which could lead to the furnace shutting down.

As the winter months start to draw closer, it might also be advised that a family potentially looks at gas suppliers such as nelsonpropane.com, or ones in their local area, to find a supplier to possibly help them keep stocked through the harsh winter months.

In addition, Macara said, blown circuits, low thermostat batteries, and dirty, plugged filters are all simple things that can be taken care of by keeping up on maintenance.
