Middle School band students to perform in Honors Bands

Nine students from the East Troy Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade bands were selected to participate in the 50th annual University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Honors Band Festival on Sunday.

Julie Chase, clarinet; Kiley Komperud, clarinet; Taylor Olejniczak, alto sax; Maggie Donegan, tenor sax; Sierra Schroeder, tenor sax, Will Calcaterra, french horn; Nathan Gross, trumpet; Lauren Parker, baritone; and Sylvia Percifield, percussion were nominated by their band director, John Rash, and selected based on instrumentation needs from more than 750 nominated students.

The students will be assigned into one of three bands and will rehearse with guest conductors on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in preparation for their final concert at the Zelazo Performing Arts Center on the UWM campus Nov. 20.
