Deputy-involved shooting spurs high-speed chase, manhunt

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Department issued the following news release in the wake of a deputy-involved shooting in East Troy Wednesday evening. The incident evolved into a high-speed chase that ended in Muskego with the suspects attempting to flee on foot. They were later caught, according to various news reports.

“On Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at approximately 5:30 pm, Walworth County Deputies along with officers from the Village and Town of East Troy PD made contact with a vehicle in the parking lot of Roma’s Restaurant in the Town Of East Troy. During the course of this investigation, a Walworth County Deputy discharged his department-issued firearm.

“The suspect vehicle fled the scene and proceeded northbound on I-43 towards Milwaukee. A pursuit was initiated and speeds reached more than 100 miles per hour.

“Pursuing officers conducted a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) and the pursuit terminated in the city of Muskego in Waukesha County, near the intersection of Durham Place and Hidden Creek Court.

“The Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is conducting an investigation into this matter.

“This incident is an active ongoing investigation and more information may be released at a later time.”
