According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the apartment at 3208 Main St., which they knew through prior contacts to be associated with illegal drugs, on Feb. 4 for a complaint of loud noise.

At the apartment, police spoke with Green, who was having a hard time keeping his eyes open, moved and spoke lethargically and appeared to be “on the nod” – behaviors exhibited when people inject heroin, according to the complaint. Green told police that Sayre, his live-in girlfriend, had taken off, according to the complaint.

In the apartment, an officer saw blue rubber tourniquets lying on the floor, cotton balls, syringes, glass pipes and cooking tins. Green told police he and Sayre were users who had been clean for a while, but he didn’t know how to properly dispose of the contraband, according to the complaint.

The officer knew Sayre had a 2-year-old daughter and obtained permission to search the apartment.

He allegedly found clear glass pipes with charred ends and wire wool, which is used to ingest cocaine, spoons with white residue on them, a container overflowing with used hypodermic needles and cooking tins, according to the complaint. A hypodermic needle and razor blade were found in a coffee table drawer fewer than two feet from children’s toys and within reach of small children, according to the complaint.
