A Janesville man who allegedly drove the wrong way on Interstate 43 while drunk and crashed into a semi-truck was returned on a warrant Jan. 22.

Carlos Antonio Guereca Silva, 26, was charged Nov. 16 in Walworth County Circuit Court with first-degree recklessly endangering safety.

On Nov. 6, an officer saw a semi-truck with its flashers on in a south lane of I-43 south of Highway 120 in East Troy and a car about 200 yards away from the semi facing north in the southbound lane, according to the complaint. A man with cuts on his face and arms that were bleeding was walking toward a marshy area between the north and south lanes of the interstate, according to the complaint.

The man, identified as Silva, said he was looking for his friend who had been driving while he was sleeping, according to the complaint. Silva later admitted he was driving, and registered .14 on an intoxilyzer test.

The driver of the semi, Lynda Clifford, said she was driving south on I-43 when she saw the car coming toward her and tried to move over as much as possible, but the car struck the semi-trailer, according to the complaint.
