Girl Scouts to open time capsule at Camp Oakwood Knoll

Scouts looking for leaders and girls present at 1992 event

The Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Badgerland Council will be opening a forgotten time capsule from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Camp Oakwood Knoll, W3524 Highway 20, East Troy.

The opening will include activities for scouts of all levels and snacks.

The capsule was buried in 1992 during the 80th birthday of the Girl Scouts celebration at the camp, Badgerland Council delegate Jeni Hallatt said. The plan was to open the time capsule in 2012 at the 100th birthday celebration, but it was forgotten about.

The capsule’s whereabouts were recently rediscovered, Hallatt said, and plans were put into motion to open it on Nov. 21.

“There is no list of the Girl Scouts or leaders who were present at the event in 1992, but we would love to find them so they can share in the history they created,” Hallatt stated in an email.

For more information, or to register to attend the event, email Hallatt at jahallatt@gmail.com.
