The Mukwonago Village Players will present “The Butler Did It!” by Todd Wallinger at Sept. 25-27 and Oct. 2-3 at Ivan’s Back Stage, 2087 Division St., East Troy.

The play is sponsored by the Friends of the East Troy Lions Public Library as a fundraiser for library programs. This is the second year in a row the Village Players have teamed up with the library in a theatrical fundraiser.

“It’s just a nice community effort,” play director Mary Hubbard Nugent said. “The Friends do so much and we want to support those efforts.”

Hubbard Nugent said this year’s play also has a “book” theme to it with the classic whodunit theme and a twist.

“It’s an Agatha Christie type woman who writes mysteries and she’s trying to solve a real life mystery in the play,” she said. “We had a lot of success with the comedy murder mystery last year, so we wanted to do something similar.”

Hubbard Nugent said there were some returning cast members from last year and some new faces. She said they were having fun with the show and were excited to share it with an audience.

“We wanted to have a show the cast could have fun with and something the audience could enjoy,” she said. “It’s really nice because they can feel like they’re a part of it while sitting at the tables at Ivan’s; it’s interactive.”

The cast members are: Tim West, East Troy; Becky Tidberg, Elkhorn; Tanner Patton, Vernon; Doris Gitzlaff, Mukwonago; Dan Hanson, Elkhorn; Pam Jones, Elkhorn; Laura Larson, Mukwonago; John Danovich, Elkhorn; and Sheri Watkins, Mukwonago.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 25, and 26; and on Oct. 2 and 3. There will be a 2 p.m. matinee on Sept. 27.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the East Troy Lions Public Library or at Ivan’s on the Square. Seating is limited; advance purchases are recommended.

The Butler Did It!” by Todd Wallinger is being produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service Inc., Englewood, Colo.
