No wake on Mill Lake

With the recent heavy rains and more forecast in the near future, Town of East Troy Chairman Joseph Klarkowski has issued a “slow no wake” order for Mill Lake until further notice.

According to a press release from the township, Department of Public Works Superintendent Greg Twelmeyer reported Monday Lake Beulah’s water level was up three inches. This raised concerns regarding the ongoing Highway J dame project.

Klarkkowski met with Walworth County DPW’s Director of Central Services Kevin Brunner and the construction engineering staff from Patrick Engineering to assess the impact of boating activity and the high water on the dam’s reconstruction efforts.

The release stated there had been reports of boating activity creating wave that were over the top of the temporary sheeting in place to allow for reconstruction work to take place. The contractor will create a temporary diversion channel at the construction site to help discharge the water.

The officials from the town, Lake Beulah Management District, Lake Beulah Protective Improvement Association and the Town of East Troy Police Department will continue to monitor the lake level and issue no wake orders on other parts of the lake if necessary.
