Support Mysliwski Fields at the High School

A group of friends and family of the late Brad Mysliwski are requesting the baseball fields at East Troy High School be named in Mysliwski’s honor.

Mysliwski’s former coach Steve Douglas made a presentation to the East Troy School Board Feb. 24 formally requesting the name change.

The School Board members agreed to have the request put on an agenda for a future meeting so the idea could be fully explored.

Anyone wishing to show their support for the name change can go to the Google document and sign the petition.

The data collected from the online form will be shared with the East Troy Community School Board. The information requested on the petition is limited to the full name of the person signing, if they are a resident of East Troy and if they are an alumni of East Troy High School.

The online form gives a brief history of Mysliwski, his accomplishments and reads:

“Brad Mysliwski played and umpired baseball games on these fields from his youth into adulthood. As a member of the East Troy Trojan varsity baseball team from 1996 to 1999, Brad was an integral part of conference championship and regional championship teams. He was a team captain and named to the all-conference team in 1999.

He was also a member of the 1999 State Championship American Legion team, which played its games on these fields as well. To clinch the state title, Brad hit a walk-off home run; securing the championship. Brad’s on-field play, dedication to the sport of baseball, and accolades have left an impact on the East Troy baseball program.

On Dec. 19, 2013, Brad succumbed to a rare stomach cancer at the age of 32. He battled this terrible disease for eight long years. Much of his fight and determination was learned through baseball and the challenges he faced on the field. As the East Troy fields currently do not have a name, we feel that naming them after Brad Mysliwski would honor a former athlete that has left a lasting impression on the program.”

  1. While the intentions of this group is honorable, and I am sure Brad Mysliwski was a graet guy and deserves recognition of some sort, nameing a baseball field after him could open a can of worms and set a precedent for the future. A plaque, or a tree or a bench etc. would be more fitting. I’m afraid I will have to vote NO.
