James R. Taylor & Sons Inc., of East Troy, is offering a new, no-cost roof to one lucky Walworth County military veteran.
“We just wanted to do something for the veterans that are all doing so much for us,” said Jim Taylor Jr., owner of the remodeling company offering the free roof. “We see them go without after giving so much and this is something we can easily fix.”
According to Taylor, a committee has been set up to handle the selection process.
“We’re not actually picking the veteran who receives the new roof,” he said. “We formed a little bit of committee – six members – that will choose from the pool of nominees.”
The nominee will be notified in May of 2014, according to Taylor.
Through their Putting Our Military on Top program, Taylor & Sons is accepting nominations through Oct. 31. Nominees must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen and a resident of Walworth County.
He/she must have served in the U. S. Armed Forces either with the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, National Guard or as a reservist in any of the branches. Nomination can be made by anyone, including the nominees and must include a photo of the house.
Entries will be accepted by mail only; no hand delivered, overnight, courier, emailed or faxed nominations will be accepted. Nomination forms and instructions can be picked up at the Taylor & Sons office, 2115 Division St., East Troy, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The nominee must own the home and be current on any outstanding mortgage or loan payments on the property.
