Delavan woman receives six months for theft

Three months work release allowed, woman to pay back more than $60,000 in restitution

A Delavan woman found guilty of theft from Elkhorn Collision Center was sentenced to six months in the Walworth County Jail Sept. 3 and ordered to pay back her former employer the stolen money.

Dawn Kuehni, 45, of 708 Rickords St., Delavan, was found guilty of one count of theft in a business setting, $2,500 to $5,000, a class I felony, and one count of theft in a business setting, less than or equal to $2,500, a misdemeanor, on May 14.

Kuehni’s sentencing includes six months in the Walworth County Jail, commencing on or before Sept. 18, with work release privileges allowed during the last three months. During this time, Kuehni will be allowed to travel to Illinois where she currently works for employment purposes. In addition, she was sentenced to four years of probation.

Walworth County Circuit Court Judge David Reddy also included in Kuehni’s sentence she will be required to pay restitution beginning Jan. 1, 2016, in the amount of $64,889.68 to Elkhorn Collision Center, paid in full in equal monthly installments over the next 32-months.
