Members of heroin-selling group arrested

Eight members of a group suspected of selling heroin around Delavan and Lake Geneva were arrested in Lake Geneva on Feb. 7, 10, 12 and 13.

Jamaal T. Shellie, 33, of Waukegan, Ill., is believed to be the head of the group, and police believe he was having other suspects drive him around the area to sell heroin and was recruiting people to sell heroin for him. He was arrested Feb. 7 at a hotel in Lake Geneva on six counts of delivering heroin and delivering heroin as a party to a crime.

Also arrested in their vehicles in Lake Geneva on Feb. 7 were Christina M. Lavender, 28, of Delavan, and Jacob L.A. Crews, 24, of Lake Geneva. Lavendar is expected to be charged with delivery of heroin and two counts of delivery of heroin as a party to a crime. Crews is expected to be charged with delivery of heroin as a party to a crime, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police continued their investigation after the Feb. 7 arrests when another person took over with the same people that Shellie was selling to.

Arrested on Feb. 10, 12 and 13 were Trisha J. Mohr, 34, Ashley J. Keller, 27 and Brian W. Zitzler, 33, all of Lake Geneva; and Matthew Brown, 31, and Ernest F. Green, 29, both of Waukegan, Ill.

Mohr is expected to be charged with two counts of party to a crime of delivering heroin; Brown, with two counts of delivering heroin; Green, with delivering heroin as a party to a crime and two counts of delivering cocaine; Keller, five counts of delivering cocaine and delivering heroin as a party to a crime; and Zitzler, conspiracy to deliver heroin, delivering heroin as a party to a crime and possession of non-narcotic drugs.

The arrests resulted from a month-long investigation into the heroin-selling operation. The Walworth County Drug Enforcement Unit, the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, Drug Enforcement Administration and City of Delavan and Lake Geneva police departments were involved in the investigation and arrests.

As the investigation continues, more arrests are expected to follow.
