The Village of Darien is in need of a new Administrator/Clerk/Treasurer. The board received an update about the hiring process from the current Administrator, Lindsey Peterson, on Monday evening.

Peterson has been with the village for three years and is leaving to become the Operating Budget Manager for Milwaukee County. Peterson worked for Milwaukee County before coming to Darien.

Peterson expects her last day with the village to be Feb. 1. The board did approve continuing to pay Peterson at her current wage but without benefits to spend some time assisting her replacement. The board also approved hiring Shannon Markley to aid the new person with the election in April. Peterson said Sue Kitzman was contracted to help her with her first election but Kitzman is not available this April. There will not be a February primary.

A job description, job advertisement, and a hiring schedule were approved previously at a Personnel Committee meeting. The salary range for the new hire will range from $68,000 to $77,000. The job description and advertisement have already been released and published in the Enterprise and posted in various places online.

The due date to be included in the first round of interviews is Jan. 22, the Personnel Committee will review applications and select four to six applicants to interview on Jan. 24, and the board will interview those candidates at a special meeting on Jan. 30. The person selected by the board is expected to begin in the position in February or March. Peterson said the village has received some applications.
